My Favourite Moisturisers

Hey guys, back with another blog post! Today I'm going to be talking about my favourite moisturisers at the moment. Let's get into it:

  • The Ordinary moisturiser + hyaluronic acid - this moisturiser is such a good, staple moisturiser that you can't go wrong with! It is really hydrating as it has hyaluronic acid in it and it soaks straight into the skin. Would recommend this to anyone and with the price point, you can't go wrong really!
  • Typology zinc moisturiser + bamboo extract - this is another favourite of mine as it's good for blemishes and oily skin (both of which I have!) It is still really hydrating though and feels amazing on the skin after it's been applied
  • Glossier priming moisturiser - this one is a little more heavy that the first 2 I have mentioned but I love it on the days where my skin needs a bit more hydration than usual. It soaks straight into the skin and leaves it feeling nourished and hydrated!
  • The Inkey List symbright moisturiser - I have been absolutely loving this one recently as it's helped to brighten my skin so much, it leaves me with a lovely glow which is why I've been using it in my AM routine to have a good base to my skin to start the day off
  • Bobbi Brown vitamin enriched face base - this is one of my all time favourites which I have only discovered recently. It is absolutely AMAZING and I cannot rave about it enough! It smells amazing and soaks into the skin like a dream. I use it before my makeup and it helps my foundation to sit perfectly on my skin and last all day too! (I have a 20% off code for Look Fantastic where you can buy this from - LFKIRSTYE)
  • Sisley velvet nourishing cream - this is such an expensive cream but one that I'm so glad I've tried as it is amazing. I probably won't repurchase this again just due to the price point but it smells amazing and left my skin feeling soooo hydrated!
  • Face Theory regena-c moisturiser - this is my current PM routine moisturiser and once again, I love it. It's so hydrating and my skin still feels just as hydrated the morning after. It is quite heavy which is why I only use it in the PM but I'm obsessed!
  • Antipodes culture night recovery water cream - couldn't recommend this moisturiser any more to people with oily skin, it is amazing! As it's more of like a gel formula, it is perfect for oily skin yet still leaves my skin feeling hydrated after application

Some of these products were PR products but all opinions are my own!

That's all of my current favourite moisturisers but I have more to open soon so will let you know if I discover any new favourites! Hope everyone is well!

My Nightstand Essentials

Hey guys, I'm back with another blog post! Today it's going to be all about my nightstand essentials as I've been reaching for these products a lot recently. Let's get into it:

  • Dots for Spots - these have saved my skin! They are so good for those spots that you don't want to pick, you just pop one on overnight and when you peel it off in the morning, your spot has practically gone and will heal over the next few days. I will genuinely repurchase these forever!
  • Gen Skincare avocado oil & retinol eye cream - this eye cream has been one of the best I've ever used, it's really cooling on the under-eyes yet still hydrates my skin so well and soaks straight into the skin
  • The Ordinary niacinamide serum - a cult favourite and rightly so! It helps with any blemishes or redness I have and really helps to calm my skin overnight. I will also continue to repurchase this for the foreseeable future!
  • Face Theory regena-C moisturiser - this is one of the best night creams I own! My skin has felt a little dry lately so I've switched to this as it's more of a heavy moisturiser. I'm mixing a facial oil in with it at the minute and my skin feels so hydrated and happy when using it!
  • Q+A chamomile night cream - I also love this as another night cream for the nights when my skin doesn't feel as dry, this has such a nice texture and is one cream I will come back to again and again
  • Consonant gua sha - I've been loving incorporating a gua sha into my routine lately as they are amazing for lymphatic drainage which makes me feel so much better in the mornings and they are amazing for shaping your jaw line and who doesn't want that? I love this one as it's amazing quality!
  • The Big Silk scrunchies - I have been obsessed with silk scrunchies lately as they don't leave any kinks in my hair and they are just more gentle for my hair, they also look so cute!
  • Glossier balm dotcom - this is my absolute go to lip balm as I've tried so many different scents and I love them all, they are so moisturising on the lips and last ages! I will forever repurchase these
  • Purdy & Figg hand sanitiser - this is an essential at the minute as I want my hands to be as clean as possible especially before doing my PM skincare to prevent break-outs. I really love this hand sanitiser as it's a spray bottle so it's really easy to apply
  • NYK1 lash serum - this is magic in a bottle. Honestly this lash serum has made my lashes grow SO much over the last 10-12 weeks of using it and I will definitely continue to repurchase this as I now no longer need lash extensions, that's how good it is! (I have a code: KIRSTY10 for 10% off if anyone did want to buy it!)
  • Laura Mercier hand cream in crème brûlée - I absolutely loved this hand cream, mainly because it smelt amazing but it helped keeps my hands moisturised all night! I have such dry hands so this hand cream really does the job!
Some of these products were gifted but all opinions are my own, as always!

That's all of my nightstand essentials at the minute but I'm sure I'll have more very soon! Hope you enjoyed reading this and hope everybody is well! Bring on April the 12th 🤍

Ways to make the most out of lockdown

Image from Pinterest

Hey guys, hope everyone is doing well!

I'm back with another blog post all about how to make the most out of lockdown! This is something I've really gotten into recently as I just think when are we ever going to get this time again to focus on ourselves or take up a new hobby etc.

Here are some of the ways I've been making the most out of lockdown:

1. Exercising

I have really gotten into exercising during this lockdown (who, me? Yep, I thought the same) but in all seriousness, it's done me a world of good as it's really helped my mindset and helped me think more positively. It has obviously helped me to become fitter and lose weight but I actually enjoy it now so I do it because it makes me feel good, not just for the weight loss

2. Going for walks

I try to go for a walk at least 5 times a week, 3 times during the week and twice at weekends as it's good to get some fresh air when we're spending so much time inside. This has also helped me maintain a positive mindset throughout this lockdown

3. Reading

I have only just got into reading properly but I am finding it so helpful especially just before I go to bed as it helps me to unwind and not touch/go on my phone for the 30 minutes before I go to sleep

4. Working

I have a full-time job also so this keeps me occupied 8am-5pm during the weekdays which has obviously passed a lot of time during the lockdown, it's helped to keep me sane!

5. Blogging

I'm so happy I started this blog as it's a little outlet for me and I can talk about things I love and share them with people who have similar interests

6. Instagram Content

I have really gotten into my Instagram recently i.e. working with brands and creating content for them and trying out new products/giving recommendations based on these. It does take up a lot of my time but I am really loving it and it's given me something to focus my time and energy on during this lockdown

7. Starting a new hobby

For me, mine was blogging and Instagram but it could be anything from online courses, candle-making, starting up your own business, skipping, you name it! Now is the time to start if you've been thinking of it

8. Trying to perfect a skincare routine

This is an ongoing mission but lockdown has given me time to spend trying to perfect my skincare routine as I've had the time to try new products and see what works best for me. My skin has been playing up recently and I still haven't found a routine I'm 100% happy with but I'm sure I'll get there soon

9. Online shopping

This is probably not the best for my bank but it passes the time and who isn't happy when parcels keep turning up at their door everyday?

10. Baking

I have never been one to bake before but lockdown definitely drove me to it and now I love it! I keep baking random banana bread loaves and dropping them off at my Grandmas which makes me happy and passes a few hours of the weekend!

There's just a few things that have helped me make the most of lockdown and there is so many more but I won't bore everyone! I've become more appreciative and mindful of the time I have left in lockdown and I've been using it to be more creative and productive. Hope this was at least helpful to someone!

Disclaimer: this is just personal to me! Everyone is different and if not doing much over the lockdown makes you happy then that is perfectly fine! Everyone copes and reacts in different ways, I like to keep myself busy but I know others may not and that is okay!

My 2021 Goals

All images are from Pinterest

I'm finally getting back into blogging, yay! A bit late to the game but I wanted to share my 2021 goals. What a year 2020 has been, for some good reasons but mainly bad for me, no one could have even guessed how 2020 would go but at least it's gone now and I took the year as a productive year in my life although I'm hoping 2021 will be more positive! I wanted to make this blog post to look back on later in 2021 to see how many goals I have achieved. Hope you enjoy and even take some inspiration from this!

1. Progress in my job

I love my job at PLT and this was such a huge achievement for me in 2021 to be able to find a job as amazing as mine in the middle of a pandemic, I am so grateful to be able to work for such an amazing company and with amazing people too. I'm hoping I can progress further in the year 2021 and learn more!

2. Get fully into working out

Back in December, if I'd have seen myself writing this, I would have been like no way but I'm honestly so into working out at the minute and I really want to keep this up. I've been following shreddy which is a fitness app and I work out 5 times a week and try to hit 10k steps everyday. So far, so good!

3. Making more healthy eating choices to lose weight

This has been one of my main goals as snacking is one of my bad habits. I've been meal prepping and sticking to it whilst trying to stay in a calorie deficit to lose weight steadily although it's way easier said than done but I am trying my best to keep up with this

4. Drinking more water

This is one of those things I say every year yet still manage to forget to do it, I have been doing well this year so far but I really want to keep it up as I can see a huge difference in my skin when I do keep up with it

5. Waking up earlier/going to sleep earlier

I am SO bad with this so I really want to change it! I really cannot get myself out of bed in the mornings so I've been looking into helpful tips and I'm thinking of investing in one of those alarm clocks which lights up so my body wakes up more naturally, not sure if this will actually work but at this point I will try anything! I also need to go to sleep earlier as I just spend hours scrolling through tiktok and instagram lol

6. Post a blog post at least once a week

I haven't been posting recently but 2o21 is definitely the time to focus more on my blog as I have a lot of spare time at the weekends

7. Hit 10k on Instagram

This is very optimistic and numbers are definitely not everything but I've made so many amazing friends through Instagram recently and I want to grow even further and create more consistent content

8. Travel to more places

This is hit and miss as coronavirus is currently ruining our lives but if the travel ban does get lifted, I would love to travel to 1 or 2 new places this year, maybe some cute city breaks

9. Save money

This has been easy recently as there is nothing to do but I really want to save whilst I have the chance as we'll never get this time back in our lives so why waste it?

10. Perfect my skincare routine

I have been trying so many new products over the last year and I still haven't found an amazing routine so I'm hoping 2021 will be my year for that

11. Read more

I want to get more into reading and spending more time doing this. I want to try and read before I go to bed instead of using my phone which leads me nicely onto...

12. Spending less time on my phone

I feel like we're all guilty of this but I really do need to spend less time on my phone and more time engaging in 'real life', I sometimes forget that social media isn't really that important and I need to focus my time on more important things such as family and friends

13. Get a dog

My dad won't agree with this one but I reaaaaally want to get a family dog in 2021 as we have wanted one for ages and this is definitely the year of persuasion to finally get my dad to let us have one hehe

14. Listen to podcasts

I have never been into listening to podcasts but I need to as this is a way to have a break from life for a while yet still not spend time scrolling through social media

Well that's all for my goals and I hope I can achieve at least half, if not all of them! I can't wait to see where 2021 will take us (hopefully to the end of covid!) What are some of your 2021 goals?
